The IAI is pleased to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding between the Central American Higher Education Council (CSUCA) and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), a strategic partnership aimed at promoting scientific, academic, and technical collaboration to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our region.
This agreement reflects a shared vision: to strengthen the capacities of Central America and the Dominican Republic to understand and respond to global environmental change through science, training, and inter-institutional cooperation.
Over the coming years, both institutions will work together in priority areas such as: climate and health, climate variability and resilience, biodiversity and sustainability, clean energy, open science and data sharing, science diplomacy and the science-policy interface, transdisciplinary science, and equity, diversity, and inclusion in knowledge production.
The partnership will also enable the development of joint training and capacity-building programs, as well as coordination mechanisms between Central American public universities and the IAI’s scientific networks, promoting greater regional integration of knowledge and evidence-based solutions.
In a context where the impacts of global change demand coordinated responses, this collaboration reaffirms the central role of higher education, research, and inter-American cooperation in building more resilient and sustainable futures. This agreement will help steer the regional agenda toward a science-based transformation.
