Einstein Hospital Israelita organized and hosted an event fostering dialogue, exchange of knowledges and experiences, and encouraging ideas for Latin American collaboration.
On May 6, 2026, Voices of Latin American Science convened leading scientists, policymakers, innovators, and institutional representatives from across Latin America and the world to discuss the future of healthcare, research, and scientific cooperation in the region.
Held in a hybrid format by Einstein Hospital Israelita, the event created a rich venue for dialogue on frontier science, innovation, research ecosystems, funding models, and international collaboration.
As part of the program, Marcella Ohira from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) Science Diplomacy Center (SDC), was invited to deliver the keynote session, “Building Bridges: Science, Politics, Diplomacy, and Collaboration in Latin America.”
During her keynote, Marcella Ohira addressed the role of science diplomacy in strengthening collaboration across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), supporting evidence-informed policymaking, and advancing international scientific cooperation to address shared regional and global challenges like health. She also highlighted the importance of sustained investment in science, research, and innovation as a driver of economic development, public health, resilience, and long-term societal return on investment across the region, and the example Brazil represents in the region.
