Paola is an Honduran biologist specialising in marine ecology and conservation. With a Master’s degree in Integrated Management of Tropical Coastal Areas from the University of Costa Rica and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, I focus on fisheries management and ecological research. As an associate researcher at CIMAR-UCR and coordinator of ECOP-Honduras, I promote interdisciplinary research and inclusive initiatives. My work focuses on community adaptation to environmental change and science communication. I have worked as a research assistant at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, contributing to the EU-funded EASMO project on coastal community resilience. I am also the host and part of the management team of the Sargassum Podcast, which focuses on coastal community issues related to the massive arrival of sargassum algae. I am skilled in workshop facilitation, coastal community engagement, qualitative analysis, and stable isotope analysis. I have experience working at sea, diving, working with people, and can work on and around boats.
