Zuhelen is an atmospheric physicochemist passionate about air quality and climate change. With a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from UNAM’s Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change (ICAyCC), I specialize in analyzing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), criteria pollutants, and greenhouse gases (GHGs). My expertise includes field instrumental monitoring of criteria pollutants, satellite-based air quality analysis using tools like Tropomi and Google Earth Engine, and advanced data analysis with R and Python. Currently, I am a fellow in the Climate Change and Health unit at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and part of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) in the STEP program. At PAHO, I support evidence-based policy preparation and action plans on health and climate change, capacity building, health co-benefit analysis of mitigation actions, and preparation of regional and national health mitigation and adaptation proposals for funding for countries in Latin America.
