The editors are Gabriela Alonso Y\u00e1\u00f1ez, Lily House-Peters, H\u00e9ctor Turra Chico, Marshalee Valentine, and Jorge Rubiano.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The eight case studies document experiences of knowledge co-creation between academics, local communities, NGOs, and public authorities from the Amazon to the Caribbean, in indigenous territories in Panama, rural areas in Mexico, and coffee plantations in Jamaica. Among the featured cases are: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The MAP-Fire Project in Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia:<\/strong>\u00a0a tri-national initiative to mitigate forest fires in the Amazon through collaborative science and environmental education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community ecological monitoring in Panama:<\/strong>\u00a0a project led by Ng\u00e4be communities that combines ancestral knowledge with science to protect biodiversity in indigenous territories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Empowerment of women coffee farmers in Jamaica:<\/strong>\u00a0an experience in strengthening the capacities and economic resilience of women coffee producers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Environmental education in El Lim\u00f3n, Mexico:<\/strong>\u00a0a story of conservation based on community knowledge and long-term inter-institutional action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In addition to presenting innovative methodologies, the book highlights the importance of recognizing local knowledge in the face of the need to generate sustainable solutions to address the impact of extreme weather events, biodiversity loss, and pollution. <\/p>\n\n<p>The free, self-paced, certificate course \u201cAdvances in Transdisciplinary Research on Global Environmental Change in Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d which analyzes this book with transdisciplinary experts from the Americas, is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iai.int\/en\/post\/detail\/COURSE-Advances-in-Transdisciplinary-Research-on-Global-Environmental-Change-in-Latin-America-and-the-Caribbean\">available in English and Spanish on the IAI Virtual Campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The open access publication can be downloaded in English and Spanish at: <\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:15px\">Transdisciplinary Research in Action in Latin America and the Caribbean.
