The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will occur during SSUNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024.<\/p>\n\n<p>SSUNGA78 builds on the success of SSUNGA77 in 2022, which brought together over 1600 speakers from all continents in more than 400 sessions. SSUNGA77 was the first year there was a spotlight on Latin America, and the IAI played a crucial role in convening sessions. <\/p>\n\n<p>Approximately 400 scientific sessions are planned for SSUNGA78, of which 200 hybrid sessions will occur in New York City, with the remainder taking place online. At least 100,000 stakeholders (leaders, scientists, technologists, innovators, policymakers, decision-makers, regulators, financiers, philanthropists, journalists, and editors) will participate in person and online. Also, 100 Ministers will participate, covering science, health, environment, climate, industry, and regulation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The IAI encourages its member Parties, Associates, and the science-policy community of the Americas to convene sessions at SSUNGA78 on the following regional priority themes identified in the ongoing IAI Regional Assessment:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lessons learned in transboundary environmental governance (e.g., water, biodiversity)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding, measuring, implementing, and monitoring climate adaptation actions to reduce vulnerability and increase resilience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding and responding to Migration, mobility, and the social-ecological drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evidence and solutions at the nexus of Climate, environment, and health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trade and the environment (e.g., mining, fisheries, agricultural commodity expansion)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation at the nexus of energy, water, and agriculture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is pleased to invite its member Parties, Associates, and the science-policy community of the Americas to participate in the Science Summit at the 78th United Nations General Assembly (SSUNGA78) during 12-29 September 2023.
