These big data can be used to help governments to critical decisions to reduce disasters, improve human health, and adapt and mitigate to climate change.<\/p>\n\n<p>AmeriGEO Week 2023, which focuses on satellite observations of the planet, will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, from August 7-12 with the participation of high-level representatives and scientists from the 16 AmeriGEO member countries*. Participants will share their experiences on their use of Earth observations (data records of the land surface, the oceans and the atmosphere) to support national policies and strengthen the application of related technologies in different areas.<\/p>\n\n<p>This event, open and free to all interested in participating, will provide a unique platform to share regional examples and best practices in the use of Earth Observations (EO) and explore sustainable solutions to environmental challenges in the region. Virtual connection links will be available each day of the event at:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2023amerigeoweek.amerigeo.org\/\">https:\/\/2023amerigeoweek.amerigeo.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>One of the most relevant sessions of AmeriGEO Week 2023 will highlight the importance of collaboration between Earth sciences and health sciences in the Americas region. The &#8220;One Health&#8221; session will focus on integrating data sources and risk assessment to address emerging climate change hazards and prepare the public health sector. In this session, the Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), Anna Stewart Ibarra, will participate as co-organizer and speaker. She will present the results of the IAI&#8217;s climate, environment and health funding (<a href=\"https:\/\/iai.int\/es\/post\/detail\/CEH-responders-in-the-Americas\">https:\/\/iai.int\/es\/post\/detail\/CEH-responders-in-the-Americas<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<p>Another important session will focus on climate change adaptation planning and capacity sharing. IAI\u2019s Science Director Edwin Castellanos will give the plenary lecture, where he will highlight the critical adaptation challenges identified in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/assessment-report\/ar6\/\">IPCC 6th Assessment Report<\/a>.
