Participants will explore topics such as climate threats, multilevel governance, marine conservation, the blue economy, environmental justice, and emerging technologies through real-world case studies, collaborative work, and practical exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register for the course for free, visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.iai.int\/course\/index.php?categoryid=5\">IAI Transdisciplinary Academy on our Virtual Campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course is aimed at professionals, researchers, and decision-makers, with the goal of promoting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects that contribute to more equitable and sustainable public policies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlights of the course content include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Global change and the ocean:<\/strong> meteorological threats and adaptation strategies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ocean-biodiversity-climate nexus:<\/strong> ecosystem services and blue carbon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ocean governance:<\/strong> inclusion of indigenous knowledge and multilevel cooperation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blue economy:<\/strong> opportunities and risks for social justice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Technology and data:<\/strong> open science and geospatial tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a critical and transformative approach, the course promotes the co-production of knowledge and dialogue between local and scientific knowledge, preparing participants to face the challenges of the ocean in the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On behalf of the IAI,\u00a0<strong>Omar L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, Director of the Science Program, and\u00a0<strong>Larisse Faroni-Perez<\/strong>, IAI STeP Fellow and Coordinator of Multilateral Affairs and the Belmont Forum\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/belmontforum.org\/archives\/open-opportunity\/ocean-2\/\">CRA Oceans 2<\/a>, participated in the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors include Laura Ramajo, Mart\u00edn Jacques, Ana Mar\u00eda Ugarte, B\u00e1rbara Morales, Mar\u00eda Ignacia Silva, Laura Far\u00edas, Pilar Moraga, Francisca Mu\u00f1oz, and Noelia Carrasco from CR2, as well as Alexander Turra from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo, Miguel Cifuentes-Jara from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Patsy Contardo from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Daniel Suman from the University of Miami, and Alex Godoy from the Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register for free for the course \u201cA Transdisciplinary Approach to the Future of the Oceans,\u201d visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.iai.int\/course\/index.php?categoryid=5\">IAI Transdisciplinary Academy on our Virtual Campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the organizers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/iai.int\/\">Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI)<\/a> is a regional intergovernmental organization that brings together 19 member countries from across the Americas around a simple premise: when science, policy, and society work together, the region is better prepared to navigate the response to the challenges of global environmental change. Since its inception, the IAI has promoted scientific excellence, open data, and international cooperation as pillars of informed decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cr2.cl\/\">Center for Climate Science and Resilience CR2<\/a> is made up of researchers from the social and natural sciences, whose main purpose is to generate research on climate science and resilience from an interdisciplinary approach, and to study how climate change impacts ecosystems and Chilean society.The <a href=\"https:\/\/belmontforum.org\/\">Belmont Forum<\/a> is an association of funding organizations, international scientific councils, and regional consortia committed to advancing transdisciplinary science.
