The members of the IAI Directorate and the Advisory Board engaged in three (3) days of collaborative and strategic planning on several topics including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The design and development of the Center\u2019s strategy, programs, activities, and the relevant content and initial key training materials for building science and innovation diplomacy capacities in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing a funding strategy to secure resources for the Center\u2019s medium and long-term sustainability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening current and future partnerships and collaborations with other key national and international organizations to support the SDC and its programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The SDC Advisory Board also had the opportunity to interact with the next generation of science diplomats and science advisors from the Americas, who are fellows of the IAI Science, Technology and Policy (STeP) Fellowship Program, as the meeting overlapped with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iai.int\/en\/applications-open-science-technology-and-policy-step-fellowship-program\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"5953\"><strong>STeP Leadership for Science Diplomacy Workshop<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAI launched the Science Diplomacy Center (SDC) as a\u00a0strategic initiative in the Americas. The Center will seek\u00a0to develop, connect, strengthen and mobilize current science diplomacy efforts\u00a0through international collaboration. Likewise, as a result of the initial work of the SDC Advisory Board, a draft SDC working plan has been developed, which will be presented to the IAI Parties at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iai.int\/en\/post\/detail\/CoP-31\">CoP 31<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDC\u00a0Advisory Board Meeting Report Executive Summary, Washington DC <strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iai.int\/administrador\/assets\/images\/ckfinder\/files\/SDC%20Meeting%20Report_Executive%20Summary%20in%20Washington%20DC%20esp(2).pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spanish<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iai.int\/administrador\/assets\/images\/ckfinder\/files\/SDC%20Meeting%20Report_Executive%20Summary%20in%20Washington%20DC%20en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SDC Advisory Board Meeting also coincided with the AAAS Annual Meeting where members of the IAI Directorate presented in the session <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aaas.confex.com\/aaas\/2023\/meetingapp.cgi\/Session\/30133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cScience Diplomacy Fellowships for Stronger Public Policies\u201d<\/a><\/strong> on 4 March at 2:30-3:30pm EST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Third meeting <strong>of the Advisory Board<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAI held an in-person Science Diplomacy Center (SDC) Advisory Board Meeting in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from 24 April to 26th, 2024. The main objective of this important gathering was to strengthen the IAI&#8217;s SDC)as a cornerstone for bolstering science diplomacy and addressing global change across the Americas. The anticipated outcome was to guide the development of an Implementation Plan for the SDC spanning the years 2024 to 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, the IAI Directorate showcased progress across three fundamental pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Capacity Building<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge Hub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emerging \/ Evolving \/ Innovation Issues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting explored ideas and recommendations regarding future programs, activities, initiatives, partnerships, sustainability, and funding.
