THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES (COP)<\/h4>

The CoP comprises the 19 Parties in the Americas ratifying the Montevideo Agreement. As the IAI\u2019s principal policymaking organ, it establishes, reviews, and updates the Institute\u2019s policies and procedures and evaluates its work and accomplishments. THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (EC)<\/h4>

The EC is composed of nine member countries, who are elected by the Conference of the Parties for two-year terms. The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)<\/h5>

The SAC is composed of ten members elected by the Conference of the Parties for a three-year term. As the IAI\u2019s principal scientific advisory body, it makes recommendations to the Conference of the Parties regarding the IAI\u2019s Scientific Agenda, long-range plans, and annual program. It also directs the peer review system for evaluating scientific proposals and assesses the scientific results obtained from IAI\u2019s funded science programs. More…<\/strong><\/a><\/p><\/div>

The Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC)<\/h5>

The SPAC was established by the CoP in 2013 to provide advice to the CoP and the IAI Directorate regarding the application and design of science in policy and decision making. The initial composition of the Committee was approved by the CoP in 2014. The Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee (IPAC)<\/h5>
The Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee (IPAC) is an advisory body to the IAI comprised of five members initially selected by a Selection Committee composed of representatives from the Executive Directorate, the EDI Committee, the SAC and the SPAC. The members of IPAC come from diverse indigenous peoples of the Americas and bring with them backgrounds that combine indigenous knowledge and science, community practice, territorial leadership and academic training, constituting diverse profiles that articulate indigenous and Western knowledge.
