National representatives<\/h1>
\u00a0<\/div>

National representatives to the IAI are designated by the State Parties and are charged with facilitating the State Party’s compliance with the Agreement Establishing the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research at the national level. They are expected to facilitate the implementation of the work plan of the IAI. The national representatives meet as the Conference of the Parties, comprised by the 19 Parties in the Americas ratifying the Montevideo Agreement. As the IAI\u2019s principal policymaking organ, it establishes, reviews, and updates the Institute\u2019s policies and procedures and evaluates its work and accomplishments. It also reviews and approves the IAI\u2019s Scientific Agenda, annual and long-range plans and financial budgets.<\/p>

Parties that have not yet done so are encouraged to appoint their representatives.<\/p>
