This is a pamphlet made for children by an IAI investigator (SGP-CRA 2048) at the National University of Mexico (UNAM). It illustrates the dangers of lightning storms and gives tips where and how to stay protected. This example of “making science available to a broader audience” is only available in Spanish , and can be seen in a reader at the UNAM site
The pamphlet is based on a study by Graciela Raga on Deaths by Lightning in Mexico (1979–2011): Threat or Vulnerability?, that was recently published in American Meteorological Society’s journal Weather, Climate and Society. Co-authors are Myriam de la Parra from Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS) and Beata Kucienska UNAM’s CCA.
