To be considered eligible, proposals must be co-developed by social scientists, natural scientists and stakeholders from at least three countries, and must be supported by three funders participating in the call. Additional details on eligibility and funding procedures are available at https://belmontforum.org/cras#forests and https://belmontforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/CALL-TEXT_CRA-Tropical-FORESTS-2024_final-ENG.docx.pdf.
This CRA recognizes the growing threats facing tropical forests and their inhabitants, including climate change, deforestation, unregulated agribusiness, land conversion, illegal activities, pollution, and environmental and climate injustices. Proposals should take a transdisciplinary approach to developing innovative solutions to the challenges facing tropical forest regions, emphasizing the importance of the well-being and survival of indigenous peoples and local communities, with special recognition of the Amazon as the largest and most inhabited region.
