Workshop Topic: Science Diplomacy for Estuaries and Mangroves in the Americas

Overall, the event aims to enhance collaboration between scientists and policymakers to promote sustainable management of estuaries and mangroves. Four specific objectives were designed:
The "Science Diplomacy Workshop for Estuaries and Mangroves in the Americas: Building Bridges between Science and Sustainable Public Policies" will focus on priority environmental issues for both the government of Panama and other Latin American and Caribbean countries. Science diplomacy will be highlighted as a crucial mechanism to strengthen regional collaboration and to develop and implement scientific initiatives that promote sustainable public policies. Therefore, invitations to attend this event have been extended to government officials of Panama and members of the diplomatic corps residing in the country to attend the event. Thematic areas to be addressed include:
The workshop content will include a field visit to Coiba National Park, allowing participants to directly observe ecosystems central to the discussions.
