The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) has announced the incorporation of three new partners: the Center for Research on Climate and Resilience, the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa e Inovação do Estado de Santa Catarina (FAPESC) and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). These prestigious organizations will bring valuable expertise and resources, thereby strengthening the institute's capacity to address climate challenges and foster global resilience.
Center for Climate and Resilience Research (CR2): Based in Chile, CR2 is dedicated to studying the impacts of climate change and developing strategies for adaptation and mitigation. Its interdisciplinary and collaborative approach will be a crucial asset, enabling a greater understanding of climate phenomena and the implementation of innovative solutions.
Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa e Inovação do Estado de Santa Catarina (FAPESC): FAPESC is a Brazilian government entity that promotes research and innovation in the state of Santa Catarina. Its mission of supporting scientific and technological research projects is aligned with the Institute's objectives, and its participation promises to promote the development of local and international initiatives that address climate and resilience challenges.
Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI): Based in Panama, STRI is a leading institution in biodiversity conservation and the study of tropical ecosystems. Collaboration with STRI will allow us to explore new areas of research and develop strategic knowledge for environmental protection.
The integration of CR2, FAPESC and STRI not only expands the IAI's network of knowledge and resources but also underlines the importance of joining global efforts to address climate challenges.
