Explore SPSAS 2024: Transdisciplinarity for the Transformative Change in São Paulo

 

We are pleased to announce that registrations for the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) on Transdisciplinarity for Transformative Change are now open. This school is primarily funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) with the support of various organizations, among which the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research stands out, represented by its Executive Director, Anna Stewart Ibarra, who is part of the Steering Committee.

  • Dates: April 8-18, 2024
  • Registration Deadline: 8 January 2024

Main Objective:

The main goal of the São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Transdisciplinarity for Transformative Change is to bring together distinguished scholars, professionals, early-career researchers (graduate students and postdoctoral researchers), and local community leaders for in-depth training in transdisciplinarity.

Event Program:

SPSAS Transdisciplinarity will offer a combination of:

  • Classes taught by nationally and internationally renowned academics.
  • Panels with policymakers, local professionals, and indigenous leaders.
  • Supervised practical activities for students in working groups to design transdisciplinary research proposals for transformative change.
  • Study trips to research institutions and traditional communities (indigenous, caiçara, quilombola, caipira).
  • Artistic activities to design dialogues and scenarios.
  • Student research presentations using innovative forms of science communication.
  • Cultural and networking events.

Program Themes:

  • Context of global environmental change and essential concepts for understanding it.
  • Transdisciplinary methodologies in socio-environmental sciences.
  • Transdisciplinary initiatives promoting transformative change in the science-policy arenas.
  • Challenges in achieving transformative change.
