The US National Science Foundation (NSF), Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) announce the launch of a new global collaborative initiative. The Advancing Leadership Program aims to recruit, train, and connect the next generation of global leaders in transdisciplinary sciences, encompassing diverse disciplines, sectors of society, cultures, and nations.
Over the course of this year and the next, the program's curriculum will be developed through a "World Tour" of interactive workshops, both virtual and in-person, employing a co-creation methodology to engage the community, particularly in the Global South regions. Inclusive Innovation, with 10 years of experience in the Global South, will lead this series of events.
The World Tour began at the SRI Congress 2024 in Helsinki with a “Spark Workshop” that brought together 35 participants from various disciplines and countries. Using a creative problem-solving methodology, the group explored future scenarios to identify critical skills needed to lead transdisciplinary efforts. The result is the initial outline of the leadership curriculum that will be developed and tested over the next year.
The distinctive elements of the leadership program will be announced before the SRI Conference in 2025, with an open call and in-person workshops in Chicago. By involving the community in the design, the goal is to create a dynamic and sustainable transdisciplinary leadership program, laying the foundation for effective collaboration with diverse communities and stakeholders.
