Bernat Navarro Serer served as a Program Officer in the Science and Technology for Sustainability Program within the division of Policy and Global Affairs at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. In this role, he lead efforts at the nexus of science, policy, and diplomacy through his work on biodiversity loss, AI, and sustainability. Additionally, he assisted in the National Academies’ efforts supporting displaced scientists and engineers under the Scientists and Engineers in Exile or Displaced Program, promoting international collaboration to support vulnerable scientists and researchers worldwide. Previously, he was a AAAS Congressional Policy Fellow in the energy and environment team in the Office of Senator Coons, where he advised on issues such as industrial decarbonization, energy security, and international climate policy. Bernat has a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular medicine from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
