Jean P. Ometto is Senior Researcher at the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research and Dean of the Earth System Science Centre. Dr. Ometto has worked extensively evaluating uncertainties associated to above ground biomass estimates and its effects on carbon emissions, at local and regional scales. Has contributed to the Brazilian Government on the issues related to the quantification of carbon emissions from LULUCF sector.
His recent research focus on effects of anthropogenic activities and climate change on natural biogeochemical processes, land use and land cover, effects on greenhouse gases emissions and nutrient balance. He has published 71 peer review papers, 03 Books and 14 Book Chapters.
